Outre Gallery celebrates art, music and ideas that are ‘out of the ordinary’, and distributes art
that ‘doesn’t quite fit in’ in an unconventional, non-traditional way. Stepping away from everyday
sterile commercial galleries, Outre aims to make art in all forms accessible and appreciated by
individuals of all backgrounds and interests.
The space is quite small in comparison to other Melbourne galleries such as the NGV, however
this is not to be overlooked. Breaking out of the typical gallery mould, the attainable,
unconventional look of the space acts as a breath of fresh air to the New Contemporary art
community.
The gallery also publish in-house under ‘Outre press’ where they carefully craft a selection of
elegant art books and limited edition prints in collaboration with artists they showcase. Not your
typical gallery, Outre aim to represent lesser-known artists and encourage pieces that are
unique, wacky and wonderful - paving the way for future generations to embrace art in all forms
and make creativity accessible to all.
